NEC Rolls Out New Slim Android Smartphone


Japanese smartphone maker NEC has been successful in its recent offerings, including one model that has become more popular than iPhone 4 in Japan, and it aims to keep the streak with its latest super-thin Android phone.

The MEDIAS ES N-05D, to be distributed by NTT Docomo, comes with a waif 6.7-millimeter side profile. It features a 4.3-inch LCD screen with 720 x 1,280 resoultion, 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8260 CPU, Android 2.3.6, a waterproof body, an 8.1-megapixel CMOS camera with Exmor R, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, infrared function, NFC e-wallet function, digital TV tuner, microSD card slot, a microUSB port, and a 1400mAh battery. It even connects to Casio G-Shock GB-6900 watch.

The NEC MEDIAS ES N-05D will hit Japanese retail stores in February or March 2012. No word on whether the phone will be available outside Japan.
